He is survived by: his wife Bonita Scherer (Mason); his children, Rachel Trenta (Jeff) of Michigan, Ben Scherer (Michelle) of Michigan and Jeff Scherer of Minnesota; his grandchildren, Taylor, Joey Trenta, Aidan, Elizabeth and Alan Scherer; and his siblings, Shirley Moander of Missouri, Carol Edgar (Reuben) of Texas and William of Iowa. He is also survived by Many loving nieces and nephews.
