He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Nicholas, and Iris Nicholas, Sr. (Wallis); his wife Jean Nicholas; his brother Lawrence Nicholas; and his son-in-law Paul Switalski.

He is survived by: his children, Jean Switalski, Thomas Nicholas III (Carol), Michael Nicholas (Gretchen), James Nicholas (Jennifer) and Maria Nicholas-Rutledge (Ryan); and his siblings, Earnest "Jim" Nicholas, William Nicholas, Robert Nicholas, Ronald Nicholas, Leonard Nicholas, David Nicholas and Esther Runyon. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
