He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred James and Arlene Grace Patterson; and his stepfather Willard Wing. He is survived by: his wife Lagretta J. Smith; his children, Michelle Amble, Lorie Sollers (John) of Edgewater, MD, Kimberly Pavey (Kieth) of Ft. Wayne, IN and James King, Jr. (Nichole) of Jackson, MI; his siblings, Carol Schirrmacher of Sacramento, CA, Russell King of Bonita Springs, FL and Janet Fraaz (Gary) of Greensboro, GA; his grandchildren, Andrew Amble (Alyssa), Cory Amble, Ethan Frantz, Destin Frantz (Evelynn), Carson Frantz, Brandon Pavey (Kristinia), Larson Pavey (Whitney), Andy King (Paige) and Jimmy King III (Abby); and his great grandchildren, Alena, Harrison, Holden, Ryder, Mason and Camden. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephew.
