He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Teachout and Genevieve Teachout (Walker); his former wife Norma Smith; his sons, David Teachout and Michael Barnes; and his sisters, Vivian Kennedy, Marian Long and Evelyn Pierce.

He is survived by: his wife Pauletta Ivey; his children, Brian Barnes (Sue) of Marshall and Janet Landis (Martin) of Coldwater; and his grandchildren, Crystal Schippers, Brian Barnes (Heather), Robert Barnes (Ashley), Matt Barnes, Corie Lawton (Shane) and Kyler Landis. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.
