He was predeceased by: his parents, George Schaefer and Norma Schaefer (Reister); his brother Philip Schaefer (Patricia); his in-law Bernard McNitt (Bernice); and his siblings-in-law, Carolyn Burgtorf (Donald) and Gerald Porter.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Schaefer; his children, Earl Schaefer (Luella), Sharon Yonker (Bruce) and Keith Schaefer (Mary); his grandchildren, Zane Schaefer (Nicole), Emma Drost (Richard), Kristin Bunker (Tim), Brandon Yonker (Kelsey), Jonathon Schaefer (Kayla) and Trevor Schaefer (Michaylla); his siblings-in-law, Gale McNitt (Marilyn), Paulette Porter and Darlene Rayba; and his sibling's children, Phillip Schaefer and Faith Basil (Mike). He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
