He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack McHalpine and Arlene Martens; his stepfather Arnold Kunisch; his brother Scott McHalpine; and his brother-in-law Chalres McGathy.

He is survived by: his son Andrew McHalpine (Krista); and his siblings, Gary McHalpine (Pat), LoAnn Reiman (Duane), Suzy McGathy, Tim McHalpine (Maryann), Cathy Butler (Jim), Morley McHalpine and Lynn Zuzga (Dan). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
