He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Kye Reck and Ruth Reck (Belyea); his wife Joann Condino; his daughter Cathrine Reck; his son-in-law William Unrue of Bloomington, Indiana; his son Ronald Reck; his daughter-in-law Olga of Clifton, Virginia; his grandson Sabien Reck; and his adoptive daughter Madeline Michaels.

“I am an African American student who matriculated at Wayne State 1968-1972 in the Organic Chemistry Dept. My PhD project involved organic synthesis, mathematical modeling kinetic profile, and associated computer programming. Dr. Reck was my unofficial advisor, coach and mentor. He was a calming factor during formal reviews of original proposals and my dissertation. I can say, I would have had many more problems if he had not supported my efforts.
