He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Burkhardt and Geraldine Burkhardt (Whitney); his son Frederick Burkhardt; and his pet Hank. He is survived by: his wife Janice Burkhardt; his children, Stacy Moyer (Larry), Marianne Schlaud (Mark), Janet Burkhardt and Andy Burkhardt (Michelle); his daughter-in-law Martha Burkhardt; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Steven, David, Francis, Benjamin, Paul and Adam; and his brother Marvin Burkhardt. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, other loving family members and good friends.
