He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Schaeffer and Josephine Schaeffer (Pietrosz); his wife Rosa Sloan; his granddaughter Natalia Nester; and his sisters, Marilyn Marsden and Betty Tarrant (Leon).
He is survived by: his children, Denise Nester (Mark), David Schaeffer (Kristine) and Jennie Schaeffer; his grandchildren, Analise (John), Gabriel, James (Tammy), Kevin (Laura), Forrest (Jen), Roan, Aaron (Alina) and Elena; and his siblings, Harry Schaeffer (Jean) and Joie Bowman. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A rosary will be held on Monday, November 24th 2025 from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Allen Funeral Home (9136 Davison Rd, Davison, MI 48423). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (404 Dayton St, Davison, MI 48423).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Davison High School Athletics, Checks Payable To: Davison Public Schools (Memo: Athletic Programs), in Walter's memory.
