He is survived by: his wife Sara Ellen McCafferty; and his children, Betsy, Louis (Jenny) and JP (Lisa). He is also survived by his ten grandchildren.

A rosary was held on Wednesday, November 5th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. The lying in state was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Church of the Divine Child (1055 Silvery Ln, Dearborn, MI 48128). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
