He was predeceased by: his parents, Arlene Rood and Dr. Robert Rood; and his son Michael. He is survived by: his wife Melanie; his siblings, Steven, Allan, Richard, Daniel, James, Susan and Laura; his children, Amanda, Rebekah and Ian; and his grandchildren, Archer, Robert, Emma, Kyle and Julian. He is also survived by his children and her children became their children.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Lung Cancer Research Foundation.
