He was predeceased by: his wife Maria Esquivel; and his parents, Anselmo Esquivel and Maria Ascencion Esquivel. He is survived by: his children, Beatriz Esquivel-Ramos (Antonio), Nora Nelly Ramirez (Francisco), Benjamin Esquivel (Marisela) and Jose Esquivel; his grandchildren, Noel (Renee), Luz, René (Denise), Amanda (Dan), Ruben, Gabe, Felipe and Fabian; and his great grandchildren, Michael, Benny, Chloe, Joseph, Julian, Mateo, Joaquin and Caleb.
