He was predeceased by: his parents, Antranig Arakelian and Sophie Arakelian; his spouse Zabel (Gononian); his grandson Stephen Arakelian; and his siblings, Edward Mugerdich Arakelian and Lillian Shoushanig Arakelian.
He is survived by: his children, Helen Knar Cirrito (Michael), George Vartan Arakelian, Christine Kanarian (Stepan) and Paul Arakelian (Sema); his grandchildren, Andrea Cirrito, Michael Cirrito, Gregory Kanarian (Julina), Marcus Arakelian (Diane), Anoush Arakelian (Dylan) and Armen Arakelian (Liana); his great grandchildren, Linnea Zabel, Thomas George, Larz Antranig and Tali Rose; and his sister-in-law Ida Gononian. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church (19300 Ford Rd, Dearborn, MI 48128). A prayer will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:45 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are to St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church or Manoogian Manor.
