“I met Cornell 10 years ago he was with his father at the time. We have been friends since he had such a great outgoing personality. Always treated me with respect, he always made me laugh every-time we would talk or if I saw him in the neighborhood. He was a great father to his children and he loved his parents so much. He loved to cook and he loved his dog Yeezy. I will never forget you and glad to have known such great man. I will miss your jokes and your presence. Rest In Peace my dear friend”

I was a friend of Emmanuel and his dad from 1998 through 2016, when Cornell Squires, Sr. passed before his time, after devoting his life to the struggle for justice for his people, and poor and working people everywhere. He was a founding member of the Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality. Emmanuel was very close to his grandparents, and Cornell Sr. loved his son Emmanuel and his two grandchildren dearly.
