“I was really shocked to hear about Joel. We go back many years as close friends. We worked many wrestling shows and ran quite a few over the years. My deepest condolences to the family. R.I.P. Buddy. You will be missed greatly. I will see you again some day.”

Karen Davis Mattson Deck wrote a sympathy message

“My heart is breaking. Joel was that guy that always showed up. You could always count on him. I met him singing karaoke and he has come to almost every new show I had in the Detroit area. He sang Frank Sinatra better than Frank. One of the kindest, most genuine people I knew. I know he will be singing with the angels, and if he can’t find karaoke in heaven, he’ll get it started. You will always be loved and remembered. Thank you for being you and for the Curly Shuffle. RIP💔”
