It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shongaia Onye Curry of Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 40, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Tyriq Reed; and her grandmother Lois B. McCray. She is survived by: her mother Deloris Curry; her son Xavier A. Robinson; her sisters, Terrilynn M. Carlton (Kea O. Carlton) of Charlotte and Serena R. Curry of Washington, DC; her niece Keauna N. Carlton of Charlotte; her nephews, Rodney C. Middlebrooks of Washington, DC and Keaun N. Carlton of Houston, Texas.; and her cousins, DeMarcus Rush and Ny'Ree K. Vick. She is also survived by loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites contributions to a fund supporting her beloved son, Xavier A. Robinson, as he prepares for the next chapter of his life.
