He was predeceased by: his mother Rita Malm; and his uncle John O'Neil Sr.. He is survived by: his father Thomas Sims Sr.; his stepparents, Alma Sims and Carl Malm Jr.; his sisters, Debra Latona and Tina Ryan (Timothy); his stepsister Janet Gordon; his siblings' children, Jacob Ryan and Tiffany Ryan; his uncles, Earl Sims and Jesse O'Neil; and his close friends, Debra and Dick Gentz.
