With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Robert William Gast of Dewitt, Michigan, who passed away on February 22, 2026 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Edward Gast and Doris Eugenia Gast (Mitchell); his grandparents, William Hudson Mitchell, Lettie (Evans), Henry Herman Gast and Marguerite Gast; his sister Ruth Ann Slawson; and his sister-in-law Delores (Dee).

He is survived by: his wife Deanna Gast (Everson) of DeWitt, Michigan; his children, Charles Zitta (Tracey Zitta), Mitchell Gast (Kathy Hubbard Gast) and Gretta Miehlke (Jacob Miehlke); his grandchildren, Dakota Gast, Montana Gast, Charles Zitta, Michael Zitta, Bella Gast and Jackson Gast; and his siblings, John Slawson and Linda Coleman. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to the East Lansing American Legion Post 205 Endowment for the Student Veterans Resource Center (AB100853), Michigan State University, 535 Chestnut Road, East Lansing, MI 48824.
