Laura Louise Cowden Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Laura Louise Cowden (Dexter, Michigan), born in Sioux City, Iowa, who passed away on July 15, 2025 at the age of 98. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her significant other Chandler Cowden; her parents, Lawrence Desy and Laura Desy; and her sisters, Jean Schuetz (Larry), Ginger Schuetz (Ron) and Beverly Beaver (Bill).
She is survived by: her children, Anthony Cowden (Suzanne) and Laura Jones (Stephen); her grandchildren, Zachary Cowden, Thomas Cowden (Krista), Robert Cowden, Owain Jones and Laura Magdalene Jones; and her great grandchild Blake Chandler Cowden. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Hamburg Chapel (7425 E Michigan 36, Brighton, MI 48139). A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Borek-Jennings Funeral Home. She saw World War II begin and end, lost beloved classmates and friends, witnessed the founding of the United Nations, the moon landing, which she insisted her children watch on television with her, the rise and fall of the Cold War, and multiple public health crises, including COVID-19.
