He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Welch and Myrtle Welch; his wife Bonnie Welch (German); his son Gordon James Welch Jr.; his brothers, George Welch, Ernie Welch and Bill Welch; and his brothers-in-law, Jim Frame and Richard Smith.

He is survived by: his children, Barbara Welch, Brian Welch (Elaine), Jeff Welch (Becki) and Amy Vincent (Adam); and his siblings, Eldon Welch (Suze), Sharon Gregory (Lee), Shirley Frame, Patsy Smith, Suzanne Klump (Sherri Noon) and Gary Welch (Sandy). He is also survived by relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home — Dorr Chapel (4330 18th St, Dorr, MI 49323). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
