He was predeceased by: his parents, Cubie Heffington and Thelma Heffington (Finney); his wife Betty Fuller; and his siblings, Leroy Heffington, Junior Heffington (Stella), Alvin Heffington (Roberta), Bobby Heffington (Charlene), Gary 'Buddy' Heffington (Jackie), Donnie Heffington (Sally), Katherine Rogers, Lois Doberstein and Joyce Heffington.

He is survived by: his children, Gene Heffington (Charlotte), Deborah Hastings (William), Judy Reed (Jerry) and Tony Heffington (Kathryn); his brother Thomas Heffington (Mary); his grandchildren, Amy Smith, David Heffington (Gynnifer), Adam Smith, Daniel Heffington, Amber Heffington, Staci Heffington, Anthony Heffington, Nathan Heffington and McKynzie Heffington; and his great grandchildren, Kamryn, Audrey, Jedidiah, Steven, Brooklyn, Aubrey and Aidan. He is also survived by nieces, and nephews.
