He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlos Wendell and Miriam Adele Highley (Bookman); his wife Janet Highley; his son Gerald "Gerry" Highley; and his siblings, Joy Highley, Ted Highley, Fritz Highley and Nancy Keitz.
He is survived by: his daughter Beth Highley of Dryden; and his grandchildren, Jenn Highley Heinrich (Kelsey) of Lansing and Jack Kaplan of Lansing. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions are encouraged to be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
