He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Gerber and Lillie Gerber (De Witt); his wife Donna; his brothers, Clayton and Walter; his sister-in-law Barbara Gerber; his sisters, Ramona (Jack Beland) and Velma (Wayne Holtz); his niece Joyce Gengler; and his nephew Mark Beland.

He is survived by: his daughter Brenda Gerber; and his nieces and nephews, Lynda Sigle (Barry), Tricia Holtz, Patty Gruden, Thomas Holtz, John Beland and Tom Gerber. He is also survived by seven great nieces and nephews; eleven great-great nieces and nephews; and great-great-great niece and nephew.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or a charity of the donors choosing.
