He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Francis and Betty Zane Steele (England). He is survived by: his wife Patricia Lou Spitler; his children, Jenelle Elkins (Mark) and Scott Steele; his grandchildren, Zane Elkins, Molly Elkins, Brody Steele and Alexis Soule; and his brothers, Benjamin Steele, Jr. (Barbara), Phillip Steele (Pamela) and Kevin Steele (Carrie). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A rosary was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes - Durand Chapel (501 N Saginaw St, Durand, MI 48429). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary Catholic Church (700 Columbia Dr, Durand, MI 48429).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiawassee County Humane Society at shspets.org or to St. Mary Church Elevator Fund.
