She was predeceased by: her parents, Doris Hartline and Clarence Canfield; her husband Philip Alexis Sr.; her adoptive father Earl Hartline; her stepmother Dorothy Canfield; her granddaughter Amanda Alexis; her brother James Canfield; and her siblings-in-law, Dr. James Meadows, Barbara Karstens (Ron), Sue Wood and Margaret Brunell.

She is survived by: her children, Philip Alexis Jr., Gregory Alexis and Sheri Alexis; her grandchildren, Kyle Alexis, Alexis Pathfinder (Alex), Lindsey Alexis, Hugo Alexis, Philip Alexis and Kendall Alexis; her siblings, Linda Clark (John), Pamela Meadows, Kim LaBrake and Valerie Birk (Gary); and her brother-in-law Paul Brunell. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the St. Vincent Catholic Charities in honor of Melody's giving spirit.
