He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Klunder and Ruby Klunder; his parents-in-law, Ben and Ruth Petterson; his daughter Shelly Whetstone; and his siblings, Sandy Inman, Sharon Smith, Harold and Edward Klunder.
He is survived by: his wife Ethelda Petterson; his children, Tammy Vandenbosch (Pat) of Muskegon, Leann Smith (Jim) of Sheridan, Beth Kilchermann (Kurt) of Vestaburg and Rich Klunder (Wendy) of Stanton; his son-in-law Steve Whetstone of Vestaburg; his grandchildren, Ellen, Mikayla, Nicole, Brenda, Tony, Ben, Brady, Justin, Stevie and Casey; his sister Pam Goodin (Clarence) of Sparta; and his close friend Lewis Perkins. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Faith United Methodist Church (833 S 1st St, Edmore, MI 48829). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions made in Richard's honor go to Faith United Methodist Church.
