He was predeceased by: his sister Helen Robinson; his parents, Alice Spearing and Leonard Spearing; and his grandsons, Kaleb Spearing and Wesley.
He is survived by: his wife Lynn Aldrich Spearing; his children, Charlie Spearing (Jing) and Jen Schaub (Bill); and his grandchildren, Harrison Schaub, Gaby Spearing, Cece Schaub and Isabel Spearing.
