He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Ishmeal and Retha Calhoun Wardwell (Forester); his wife Doris Loretta Bates; his daughter Jayne; his grandson Jessie James Hebeler; and his siblings, Charlotte "Jean" Neff and Larry Wardwell.
He is survived by: his daughter Lesia Hebeler; his grandchildren, Jodie Cottrell (David) and Michael Hebeler (Nina); and his siblings, Ronald Wardwell (Billie), William Wardwell (Sue) and Anna Bendes (Jim). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Smith Family Funeral Homes (221 E Main St, Elsie, MI 48831). A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be made to the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, Saginaw, Michigan.
