He is survived by: his former wife Sylvia Contantance Cheatham; his wife Colleen Marie Cummings; his friend Hank Mroczkowski; his children, Bruce Nelson of Alexandria, KY, Julie Hurkmans of Summerville, SC, Lori Hayden (Robert) of Owensboro, KY, Bonnie Bradley (Robbie) of Calhoun, KY, Lee K. Nelson (Kristy) of Escanaba and Boyd Nelson (Tonia) of Escanaba; his grandchildren, Brandi Bratcher of Jennifer Roberts, E. J. Benningfield, Shanelle Hayden, Chris Nelson, Ashley Solis, Debi Haley, Cassie Stevens, Brittany Nelson, Collin Nelson and Hannah Nelson; and his pet Niko. He is also survived by 19 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
