He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton B. Vanderhoef and Flossie Vanderhoef (Fisher); his foster parents, Earl Sawyer and Florance Sawyer; and his siblings, Ruby Laycock, Charles Vanderhoef, Richard Vanderhoef, Paul Vanderhoef, James Vanderhoef, LD Vanderhoef, Milton Vanderhoef Jr. and Leon Sawyer.
He is survived by: his wife Dolores June Vanderhoef of Evart; his children, Connie Douglas (Richard), Dennis Vanderhoef (Trudy), Mark Vanderhoef (Darlene) and Karl Vanderhoef (Teresa); and his sisters, Laura Kitson (Marie) and Lynda Platz. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church (435 E 5th St, Evart, MI 49631). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
