He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald DeRuiter and Ida Mae DeRuiter (Herweyer); his in-laws, Percy and Esther Bierens; his stepfather Henry King; his brother Jay Bierens; his nephew Tim Brunner; his brothers-in-law, Jerry Workman and Keith Workman; his sister Kay; his siblings-in-law, Clif Klein and Betty King; his niece Tammie Beebe; and his nephew Kregg Schierbeek.
He is survived by: his wife Ellie Bierens; his children, Scott DeRuiter, Hollie Masten (Chazz) and Kelly Gunderman (Rich); his grandchildren, Morgan, Nicholas DeRuiter, Kainen Rose (Taylor), Rose, Mackenize Misher (Trey), Trace and Kennedy Gunderman; his great grandchildren, Owen, Henry Trey and Ellie Mae Mishler; his siblings, Jerry DeRuiter (Bev), Dave DeRuiter (Cindy), Bev Clover (Pete), Dawn Ebels (Mark), Diane DeZeeuw (Dave) and Bonnie Brinks (Dale); his siblings-in-law, Pat Bierens, Ann Workman and Sid King (Virginia); and his close friend Keith DeRuiter.
