It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William A. Kohn Sr. (Farmington Hills, Michigan), who passed away on August 6, 2022, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Waldemar Kohn and Ferne Kohn (Lapp); his brother Robert; and his grandson Eric. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Steelman; his children, William Jr. (Diane), Philip (Lisa) and Diane; his grandchildren, Ryanne Tomford (Eric), Heidi O'Neill (Peter), P. J. (Madison) and Jacob (Hannah); and his great grandchildren, Benjamin, Bella, Harwell and Harper.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or Doctors without Borders in Bill's memory.

“When I first came to Ford as a mechanical engineer graduate to Ford in the summer of 1962 I met Bill on my 'On the Job Training program", who worked in Ford's Safety Engineering office on various safety projects, like seat belts and child seats. His office was in the 'safety sled testing' building, where he was my mentored and promoted my interest and learning in seat belt engineering for occupant vehicle safety. Because of Bill, my interest continued for working on vehicle occupant safety.”
