He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl and Gertrude; his siblings, Phillip and Joan DeRose; his daughter-in-law Linda Roerig (Putnam); his niece Phyllis Gonzales; and his great-nephew Jonathon Qualtier.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Jill" (Shanahan); his son Christopher Roerig (Monica Polancic); his sister Caryl Levita; his children, Kathaleen O'Brien (Sean), Timothy Roerig (Cynthia) and Alan Roerig (Heather); his grandchildren, Jack (Amy), Blake (Bri), Annie (Lou Boschelli) and Evan O'Brien; his children, Maria, Emily, Aaron, Luke Roerig, James (Rosa), Marcus and Douglas Robinson; and his great grandchild Sophia.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation is made to The Legacy on the Rock at St. Peter's Church, Douglas, Michigan.
