He is survived by: his wife Jeanne C. Malin; his children, Julie Nelson and Dennis Nelson, Jr. (Amanda); his grandchildren, Jennifer Buda, Adam Smerkar, Zachary Emerson and Cody Nelson; his brothers, Lawrence Nelson (Tootie), James Nelson (Phyllis) and Robert Nelson; and his brothers-in-law, David Malin (Ilene) and Douglas Malin (Susan).
He was a member of the Arbor Day Foundation for 42 years.
