It is with sadness that the passing of Sonya Kathleen Persia (Fenton, Michigan) is shared. Sonya, born on May 8, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on October 26, 2026. Sonya will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. Friends and family will honor Sonya by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence she had in their lives. Though Sonya is no longer present, the bonds she created and the experiences shared will endure. Sonya’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew her.
She was predeceased by: her husband Raymond Joseph Persia; her children, Raymond Lee Persia and Julie Persia; and her siblings, Marlene Schoolmeesters, Lee Schoolmeesters and Jan Schoolmeesters.
She is survived by: her children, Kimber Persia (late Bill Laur) and Amber Persia-Hodges. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other beloved family members and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, November 2nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (600 N Adelaide St, Fenton, MI 48430). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
