He was predeceased by: his siblings, Connie Cain and Jack Helm. He is survived by: his children, Dan Helm (Jan), Julie McConnell (Ken) and Brenda Nelson (Scott); and his grandchildren, Caitlin Helm, Ryan Helm, Aeron McConnell, Abby McConnell, Nicole Stoetzer (Bradley) and Jennifer Groom (Pete).
