He was predeceased by : his parents, Steve Matyas and Gayle Matyas; his brother John Abendschein; and his grandmother Wanda Harris. He is survived by : his significant other Susan Zimmerman; his child Kirsti Abendschein; his grandchildren, Aiden, Avery and Lucas; and his siblings, Tina Abendschein, Eric Abendschein (Sam), Tony Abendschein, Nathan Matyas, Adam Matyas, Matthew Matyas and Stephanie Matyas-Lindsey (Chris).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the memorial fund for the family.
