He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Gilbert and Lavina Gilbert (Papple); his stepdaughter Susan Spence; and his sister Donna J. Bowers. He is survived by: his significant other Patricia Bryant; his daughter Kimberly Karinen (Jon); his grandchild Ryan Karinen; his stepgrandchildren, Michael Helton, Anthony Helton, Rita VerHage (DJ), Alayna and Adelyn VerHage; his siblings, Larry Gilbert and Sandra L. Fitzpatrick; and his sister-in-law Rita Fadely (Arlen).
