He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Bales and Edith Bales (Morgan); his son Charles Robert Bales; his brothers, Randy and Edward Bales; and his brother-in-law Jim Christian.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Christian; his daughters, Joanna Reynolds (Lyle) and Vickie Jager (Ryan); his grandchildren, Briana Broadnax, Devyn Johnson, Jack Jager and Eloise Jager; his great grandchild Sanai Cobb; his sister Karen Edwards (Jim); and his siblings-in-law, Myron Christian (Linda) and Kay Johns (Jimmy). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
