He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Pettey and Dorothy Pettey (Bowen); and his brothers, Marvin, Melvin and Harry "Bucky" Pettey.
He is survived by: his uncle John "Jack" Bowen (Shirley); and his siblings, Margietta Miller and Ralph Phillip (Melody). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
