He was predeceased by: his parents, Pearl and Eli; and his brother Paul. He is survived by: his sister Donna Fake; his wife Valia; his daughters, Cheryl Haddy, Denise Paavola (Gary) and Dayna Pappalardo (Vincent); and his grandchildren, Kari (Nathan), Jennifer (Dustin), Michael, Sarah, Gretchen (James), Kalle (Ryan), Anthony (Frances) and Danielle (Dennis). He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, Mott Community College, and St. John Vianney Church.

“Edward Mitchell was an enthusiastic and accomplished friend and fellow Rotarian. He was a Gentleman's Gentleman in everyway that he conducted himself. Ed was at the Flint Journal and worked closely with my Realtor father, Robert J Sibilsky, in the Advertising Department. They always spoke very highly of each other. Becky and i offer our deepest condolences to Dollie, her children, and grandchildren. Ed will most certainly be missed by all but we are sure he has obtained his Eternal Reward.”
