He was predeceased by: his parents, Columbus Wells and Sephronia Wells (Bledsoe); and his spouse Beverly Jean Wilson. He is survived by: his children, Dawn Hawley of Swartz Creek and Melony Gifford (Randy Duplanty) of Linden; his grandchildren, Eric Hawley, Elizabeth Middler (Gordy), Chase Gifford (Claire Moore), Shaelin Gifford (Don Campbell), Savannah Duplanty and Emma Duplanty; and his great grandchildren, Ava, Addison, Camden Middler and Gianna Jamieson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
