He was predeceased by: his son Mark Grimes; his parents, Wilfred Grimes and Margaret Grimes (Perkins); and his siblings, Michael Grimes, Margaret Ann Richter and Mary Kay Gies.

He is survived by: his wife Irene Grimes; his children, Michael Patrick Grimes (Roxanne), John David Grimes (Laura) and Rachel Huiskens (James); his siblings-in-law, Carol Grimes (Michael) and Richard Gies; his daughter-in-law Carol Grimes; and his cousins, Bernie Young, Judy Harris (Doug) and Dennis Grimes. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews.
