He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Kato and Mary Kato (Covalsick); his former wife Janice; and his siblings, Margaret, Michael, John, Ann and Andrew.
He is survived by: his wife Garlinda Kato; his children, Karen Joseph Jr. (Rick Vaughn), Jackie (Richard Piatt), Jennifer (John Zienert), Kevin (Sue) and Jeffery (Maggie); and his sister Mary Negveski. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
