She was predeceased by: her parents, Benjamin Kortas and Lillian Kortas; her son Glen Robert Messer (Angela); and her granddaughter Isabele Grace McGrath. She is survived by: her husband Robert Michael Messer; her daughters, Deborah Morton, Beth Woodall and Roberta McGrath; her grandchildren, John McNicol (Candice), Shane McNicol (Mariah), Stephen Messer (Ashley), Timothy McNicol, Jessica Lynch (Tyler), Noah Snider (Steffi), Jordan Crum, Austin Messer, Alexander McGrath and Sierra Messer; her great grandchildren, Alexxa Standifer, John Holden McNicol, Leocadia McNicol, Diego Vazquez, Robert Messer, Scarlett Snider, Audrey Messer, Copelan Lynch, Glenn Messer, Zayden McGrath, Niklaus Snider and Nova Snider; and her siblings, Benedict Kortas (Patricia), Walter Kortas (Sue), Robert Kortas (Fran), David Kortas (Nancy), Mary Ann Brylewski, Stephanie Balinski, Margaret Szczesniak, Catherine Wayburn, Theresa Kortas, Christine Leonka (Martin), Leonard Kortas (Sharon), Carol Ann Pawl, Josephine Kortas, Patrick Kortas (Laurie) and Barbara Kortas.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Sunday, July 27th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Swartz Funeral Home (1225 W Hill Rd, Flint, MI 48507). A memorial service was held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to one of Leocadia's favorite charities: St. Joseph's Indian School, which provides education and support to Native American children.
