He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Gilbert and Ivah Gilbert (Riggs); his wife Norma Jean Rutherford; his brother Gordon Gilbert; his siblings-in-law, Erwin "Erkie" Schmuker, Irene Gilbert and Alice Gilbert; and his son-in-law Lawrence "Larry" Beamer.
He is survived by: his children, Steve Gilbert, Donna Bund (Tom), Karen Beamer, Faith Thoroman (Chris) and Tim Gilbert; his grandchildren, David Beamer, Amber Dekelaita (Nick) and Christina Fulton (Ryan); his great grandchildren, Charles, Griffin, William, Elinor and Rory; and his siblings, Jean Schmuker, Jerry Gilbert (Rita), Ronald Gilbert and Donald Gilbert. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3rd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, August 4th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center (6063 Fenton Rd, Flint, MI 48507). A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
