He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph John Strbik and Ella Marie Strbik (Skamelka); and his sister Jean Bernier. He is survived by: his wife Judy Thorne; his daughters, Suzann Bertels (George) of Lake Orion, Christine Marion (Tom) of Oxford and Lisa Strbik of Alpena; his grandchildren, Andrew, Megan Bertels, Hunter and Nicole Marion; and his siblings, Joseph John Strbik Jr. (Judi) of Traverse City and Barbara Romaine (Bernie) of Grand Blanc. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
