He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Gottschalk and Sandra Gottschalk (Duranceau); and his wife Nina Hammontree. He is survived by: his sisters, Malinda and Andrea Gottschalk; his children, Joseph Shay (Jessica) and Amy Shay; his grandchildren, Abigail Wentworth, Logan Shay (Reasha), Megan Shay and Tristan DeFrank; his great grandchildren, Lucas and Harper; and his pet Misty. He is also survived by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center (6063 Fenton Rd, Flint, MI 48507). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center (6063 Fenton Rd, Flint, MI 48507). A burial will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442).
