He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hopkins and Virginia Hopkins Jones; his sister Patricia Carrington; and his nephews, Phillip Johnson and Imari Lee.
He is survived by: his wife Kaili Hopkins; his daughter Matangela Hopkins; his granddaughter Layla Hopkins-Davis; and his siblings, Helen Holland (Larry), Maria Brown (James), Bernetta, Kenneth (Linda), Robert, Ronald and Dewayne Hopkins (Latasha).
