He was predeceased by : his parents, Rudolph Matzke and Elizabeth Matzke (Dietzel); his grandparent Louie Matzke (Ella); his sister Lucille Rutowski (Larry); and his siblings-in-law, Kathy Matzke and Ed Sullivan.

He is survived by : his wife Carol Matzke; his children, Steven Matzke (Bonnie), Dale Matzke (Tracy), Tammy Wilber (Clayton) and Scott Matzke (Heather); and his siblings, Jim Matzke, Nancy Sullivan and Larry Matzke (Jackie). He is also survived by 12 Grandchildren; several Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
